ADOPTING A PUPPY OR KITTEN

Love at First Sight! places our adorable puppies and kittens, between six and 12 weeks of age, into responsible and loving homes.

Most of our pets are acquired from families that have unplanned litters. Unfortunately, due to our strict health requirements, we are unable to shelter stray animals in our nursery because of our limited space and lack of adequate isolation facilities.

All puppies and kittens are carefully examined by our veterinarians prior to being accepted for adoption.  Once accepted, they are vaccinated with the best available vaccines, treated for internal and external parasites, bathed with medicated shampoos, fed the finest diets, and lovingly cared for until they are adopted.

There is no adoption fee for mixed breed puppies or kittens at Love at First Sight! We only require reimbursement for medical services already given (first examination, vaccinations, dewormings, laboratory tests, etc.).  A commitment to finish the vaccination series and have the pet spayed or neutered at Murphy Road Animal Hospital is also required. The funds for these services are returned to Love at First Sight! in order to pay our expenses, as we receive no public funds or donations.

Prior to adoption, you will be given an estimate of the total costs that will be required to adopt your pet and complete it's health care program. This policy has allowed us to find homes for thousands of unwanted puppies and kittens since 1995.

Your new pet is covered by our seven day return policy.  If you are not satisfied with the puppy or kitten for any reason during the first seven days, you may return the pet and exchange it for another.  If the pet becomes sick during this period, you may either return and exchange it for another pet, or have it treated at Murphy Road Animal Hospital.  You will be responsible only for the medication charges that result from the pet's treatment. We are unable to pay for any medical care provided anywhere other than Murphy Road Animal Hospital. There are NO REFUNDS, as you pay no adoption fee. The only fees you pay are for the medical care that the pet has already received.

After your pet has completed required vaccinations and has been spayed or neutered, you are free have your medical records transferred to an animal hospital of your choice. You will have fulfilled your commitment to us. Some adopting families have traveled back and forth from as far away as Kentucky and Georgia in order to enable us to keep our adoption center open.

As almost all of our puppies are mixed breeds it is difficult to estimate the size of the puppy when it grows to maturity.  We try to give estimates based on the size of the mother dog, but we can sometimes be way off and the puppy may grow larger than expected, thus we CANNOT MAKE ANY GUARANTEES AS TO THE PUPPIES ADULT SIZE.

PLACING YOUR "SURPRISE" LITTER WITH US FOR ADOPTION

We accept healthy puppies and kittens from families with an unplanned litter into our adoption program on a space available basis. There is no charge for this service, although we encourage the spaying of the mother dog or cat in order to prevent future "accidents."  Please call Love at First Sight! at (615) 297-2464 to see if space is available or submit your information and we will contact you soon.

Educational Services

A fundamental goal of Love at First Sight! is to eliminate the need for an adoption center such as this one, by promoting responsible pet ownership through animal population control.  We counsel all owners of all the unplanned litters as to the importance of spaying the mother dog or cat.  It is a requirement that adopting families agree to have all newly adopted pets spayed or neutered by our veterinarians at Murphy Road Animal Hospital prior to six months of age.
